Europe : SAMSUNG Electronics unveiled its fully-loaded slim phones for the first quarter, including the world’s slimmest 3G phone at a bare 14.9mm thin – the SGH-Z540. Also in the line-up are the premium slim slide-up SGH-D820 and the credit card-inspired multimedia slim phone SGH-P300. Mr. Ng Long Shyang, Director, Sales & Marketing, Telecoms and IT Products, SAMSUNG Asia Pte Ltd, said, “This series of new phones emphasizes and continues SAMSUNG’s heritage for combining the best in global design and technical prowess. We address consumers' desire for slimmer designs without compromising on superior multimedia features.” Key slim phone features include mega-pixel camera capabilities and MP3 capability for music playback. An internal digital power amp, developed jointly with Bang & Olufsen, powers high-quality acoustics for the music lover. Another feature in this line include easy printing of quality pictures via Bluetooth, MPEG4 hardware chipsets with 15 frames per second video production, and even TV-out support to make the most of the powerful video functionality. At 14.9mm thin, the Z540 is the world’s slimmest 3G mobile phone – the 3G-powered clamshell is a wafer-thin briefcase that fits comfortably in your palm. Targeted at premium style-conscious consumers with high-tech demands, it is sheathed in an ultra-sleek black casing and boasts a host of multimedia tools such as a 1.3 mega-pixel duo camera set-up with 4X digital zoom, video telephony and messaging, real-time streaming video and MP3 capabilities. Its Mobile Flash user interface also adds to the multimedia experience by giving the consumer cutting edge visuals, graphics and games. It also boasts a dynamic shared user memory of 140MB and lets the consumer access email, MMS and the Internet via 3G for faster speeds. SGH-P300 – Card-Slim with Powerhouse Features
With a depth of 15.2 mm, the SGH-D820 is a quad-band slim slider fully equipped with advanced multimedia features such as a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, dual speakers for music and video recording and playback. Equipped with all of today’s latest features, the SGH-D820 is the perfect choice for style-conscious business users who are looking for a feature-rich phone. It features a wide (2.12-inch) and a high resolution (QVGA) LCD screen, direct TV output, and also allows printing via Bluetooth or PictBridge. Consumer can also supplement the 73MB embedded memory via external memory card (microSD) to store files.
