Simultaneous Voice and Data with Built-In Security for 3G Phones

First to Deliver Simultaneous Voice and Data with Built-In Security for 3G Phones

31st March, 2009

US : Columbitech tannounced its Mobile VPN is the only solution to deliver simultaneous voice and data security for new and existing mobile phones and smartphones, including Windows Mobile 6 devices, and 3G cellular phones. Using the Columbitech Mobile VPN software solution, users can seamlessly manage mobile applications and incoming calls without losing connection or dropping calls, improving productivity with reliable security.

Without simultaneous voice and data capabilities, mobile productivity is hindered as mobile phone users drop calls or lose the connection to mobile applications such as email, Internet and remote access files. The Columbitech Mobile VPN uniquely allows the application’s session to resume after an incoming voice call, enabling the user to continue its open session without losing data or reauthenticating to access the application again. Other VPN offerings either lack security capabilities or the mobile user experiences difficulty keeping a session active for both data and voice calls. Columbitech Mobile VPN is the only wireless security solution to enable all these features cost-effectively.

Columbitech was the 2008 recipient of the Global Market Strategy Leadership Award in the mobile VPN product category from Frost & Sullivan. Frost & Sullivan Research Analyst Martha Vazquez says, “One of the reasons Columbitech was an award recipient was their market strategy and focus to build strong partnerships with device manufacturers and telecom service providers. Today’s news is a proof point of their efforts to continue to maximize security and productivity benefits for wireless devices and mobile phone networks. Further, the enterprise market is a growing opportunity for Columbitech and by providing key features to improve performance and reduce downtime; they should receive great feedback from remote workers.”

The Columbitech Mobile VPN can be deployed on the most recently introduced phone models as well as legacy phones. It supports wireless networks including 2G (CDMA, iDEN, GSM), 2.5G (EDGE and CDMA2000 1x-RTT), 3G (EV-DO, UMTS, HSPA), and future 4G-capable networks.

“In an increasingly mobile world, users need advanced features to tap the potential that wireless mobility has to offer,” said Asa Holmstrom, president of Columbitech. “Columbitech is committed to enabling fearless enterprise mobility and will continue to support the newest devices and operating systems with upgraded productivity functionality – within a secure wireless environment.”
