| CDMA2000 1X Chipset Solution for Entry-Level 3G Devices |
27th May 2003 |
The addition of the MSM6025 chipset complements the already extensive and fully segmented line of entry, mid and high-tier solutions. All solutions in the MSM6xxx chipset family are based on radioOne Zero Intermediate Frequency (ZIF) architecture, providing reduced bill of materials and ultimately more cost-effective solutions for 3G wireless devices. Samples of the MSM6025 chipset are expected to ship in the third quarter of calendar 2003. "The new MSM6025 chipset complements our MSM6xxx family and further demonstrates our overall segmentation strategy to deliver the flexibility for each and every customer to cost-effectively define their own products based on market needs," said Johan Lodenius, senior vice president of product management and marketing for QUALCOMM CDMA Technologies. "With this new product available next quarter, QUALCOMM will quickly offer its customers a CDMA2000 1X solution that provides data support in entry-level devices, from a proven platform." The MSM6025 chipset and system software offers increased processing power and flexible memory interface capabilities to utilize the most cost-effective external memories for the lowest system costs. Compliant to IS-2000, CDMA2000 1X MSM6025-based terminals provide operators up to twice the voice capacity over 2G IS-95A/B solutions and data rates of up to 153 kilobits per second(kbps). The MSM6025 chipset integrates some key features of QUALCOMM's Launchpad(TM) suite of applications and software including the Removable User Identity Module (R-UIM) capability. The MSM6025 solution supports QUALCOMM's Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless(TM) (BREW(TM)) platform. With the BREW routines, protocols and tools, handset manufacturers and developers can develop embedded wireless applications and BREW-based products more quickly and easily. |
