3G Nokia 7600 for T-Mobile

5th May , 2004

Europe : T-Mobile is opening yet another door to the world of mobile multimedia: with the first UMTS-enabled mobile phone, Nokia 7600, T-Mobile customers can now experience the whole range of mobile broadband communication. The offer is another cornerstone of market leader T-Mobile’s multimedia strategy presented at CeBIT. With T-Mobile Multimedia (TM3), T-Mobile is putting together packages for its customers with the most modern mobile technology, interesting multimedia content and services, powerful devices, attractive rates and competent customer service for seamless mobile communication. The Nokia 7600 enables mobile data exchange at transmission rates of up to 384 kilobits per second and supports multimedia services such as the mobile jukebox and the recording and sending of video clips (video messaging).

The Nokia 7600 is available now, upon conclusion of a T-Mobile postpay contract. With this device, customers can download and play back songs via t-zones, T-Mobile’s mobile multimedia portal via UMTS. In addition, the device allows users to send and receive video sequences as well as photos and other multimedia messages via broadband. The Nokia 7600 has an integrated camera for taking photos and recording video sequences. And an integrated music player and included stereo headset ensure optimum musical enjoyment. The device is impressive with a color display with over 65,000 colors and its futuristic design.

The Nokia 7600 is especially suited for innovative multimedia services such as the mobile jukebox. With this new service, T-Mobile customers can choose their favorite title in t-zones, listen to a sample and download it onto the Nokia 7600. The song is downloaded via UMTS or GPRS, depending on network availability. There are several hundred titles to choose from for the start of the service, including from the Universal studios, with songs from the categories pop, rock, dance, hiphop and more. The offer includes top hits, for example from the Black Eyed Peas or The Rasmus, and will be continually added to over the course of the year. The titles will be provided in the “mobile mix format”, which is optimal for mobiles.

Since the end of April, T-Mobile has been marketing another T-Mobile multimedia offer. The multimedia GPRS/UMTS net card is available in combination with the T-Mobile Communication Center communication software. Used in a laptop, the multimedia GPRS/UMTS net card supports fast Internet searches or e-mailing. The fastest mobile network available is always selected. In conjunction with W-LAN-enabled laptops, the solution can also be used in T-Mobile or T-Com Hotspots. The seamless multimedia experience is rounded off by the new time-based Data Time options 600 and 1800: these rates provide offers for the first time that can be used for data communication in all networks – UMTS, GPRS and W-LAN.
