China : : Xilinx announced plans for the TD-SCDMA Evolution and LTE Summit, Shanghai 2008, taking place from May 31 through June 1 at the Shanghai International Conference Center. TD-SCDMA (time division-synchronous code division multiple access) is a 3G (third generation) mobile telecommunications standard, being pursued in the People's Republic of China by the Chinese Academy of Telecommunications Technology (CATT), Datang and Siemens AG. LTE (long term evolution) is the name given to a project within the Third Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) to improve the mobile phone standard to address future requirements for improved efficiency, lower costs, better integration with other open standards and better leverage of new spectrum opportunities.
