PA Consulting to Showcase 3G LTE PHY Technology
13th May , 2009
Europe : PA Consulting will showcase its flexible LTE PHY technology at LTE World Summit, Berlin, 18 to 20 May 2009. The PHY development forms an essential part of the LTE Multi-UE load test system, recently launched by Catapult Communications inc.
PA's wireless technology team has designed, developed and implemented the PHY using high performance devices from Freescale and Altera. The PHY is implemented as a self contained system element, allowing connection to an eNodeB at the CPRI interface. It provides for high data throughput, full bandwidth to 20MHz, support for multiple users for load testing and support for 2x2 MIMO.
The work has followed the latest iterations of the 3GPP standards and, in support of the development, a full set of test vectors has been prepared to allow independent testing and verification of the solution.
PA's PHY solution can be implemented in various forms for other applications in the LTE environment, and the technology can be rapidly adapted to provide eNB functionality for small or medium scale infrastructure projects. The flexible architecture, based around microTCA, allows for simple enhancement and growth if added capacity is required.
Kalyan Sundhar, VP Engineering for Catapult Communications comments:
"PA's talented team of Engineers helped Catapult deliver a first of its kind, high capacity multi-UE (user equipment) LTE load simulation system. PA's expertise in the area of PHY layer development coupled with Catapult's expertise in building high load generators resulted in this high quality product that spanned a year and half of development time."
The PA team are on Stand M03 throughout the event, and contributing to program content through:
