T-Mobile Tops YouGov 3G Mobile Broadband Survey

T-Mobile Tops YouGov 3G Mobile Broadband Survey

20th May , 2009

UK : T-Mobile’s Mobile Broadband service has been rated highest in more categories than any other mobile network operator in an independent YouGov survey of 2,083 mobile broadband users*.

Conducted in April 2009, the survey explores consumers’ use of mobile broadband. T-Mobile comes first in six out of 13 customer satisfaction metrics, following on its No1 ranking in the January 2009 YouGov Dongle Tracker report. This latest survey also reveals T-Mobile’s Mobile Broadband network coverage is most highly rated by consumers, a reflection of the investment T-Mobile has made in this area.

The poll also found T-Mobile was best in a range of customer-centric categories, including getting connected, ease of use and installation, billing and was ranked joint first for customer services. Alongside constant improvement to its network, T-Mobile is committed to making mobile access to the internet as simple and affordable as possible. Richard Warmsley, Head of Internet and Entertainment for T-Mobile UK, commented:

“As internet access from any location continues to rise up the priority list for our customers, we aim to provide them with total freedom to check emails, surf the internet and share photos. Coming top in two consecutive rounds of YouGov research shows that customers recognise and value T-Mobile’s range of simple plans, attention to customer care and the reassurance that no matter how often they access the internet, they will never pay more than their monthly flat rate.

” T-Mobile has consistently performed well in all YouGov’s mobile broadband reports which are based on the largest independent sample of mobile broadband users to be surveyed in the UK. According to YouGov’s latest research, T-Mobile remains the UK’s most consistent operator over the four waves of research which began in June 2008.

T-Mobile was placed second overall in both the June and October 2008 Dongle Tracker reports. The results of the YouGov report, based on the responses from users to an on-line survey, are reflected in other third-party tests that underscore T-Mobile’s reputation for delivering a superior mobile broadband user experience.

T-Mobile benchmarks the performance of its mobile broadband network through quarterly tests conducted by independent test house. Since Q3 of 2008, these tests have placed T-Mobile No 1 overall when measured against its competitors on metrics that matter most to customers such as browsing the most popular web sites, internet upload speeds and email. Independent recognition of T-Mobile’s superior mobile broadband performance is rooted in a programme of continuous network expansion and technological innovation.

T-Mobile has taken a pioneering approach to expanding 3G coverage through a network sharing agreement, which puts the company on course to provide near complete population coverage for 3G services by 2010. T-Mobile was the first operator to roll out faster uploading HSUPA technology on a nationwide basis and is in the process of upgrading the underlying download capability of its HSDPA-enabled 3G network to 7.2Mbps both within the M25 and other major cities, providing realistic mobile broadband speeds of up to 4.5Mbps in those enabled areas.

YouGov’s technology and telecoms consultancy produces the Dongle Tracker Report to understand the use of mobile broadband, consumers’ satisfaction criteria and purchase intentions and what matters most to users when connecting to the internet on the move.

* Rated No.1 mobile broadband network in YouGov’s “Dongle Tracker” network operator league table April 2009. 2083 mobile broadband users took part (using a dongle, modem stick, or datacard). T-Mobile sample was 283 customers. Fieldwork undertaken 3-14 April 2009. The figures have not been weighted. MVNOs are excluded from the analysis.
