FJBlend Powers 3G FOMA 902i Series from NTT DoCoMo

8 November , 2005

ASIA Japan : Aplix Corporation announces that all six models in NTT DoCoMo's 902i Series of FOMA mobile phones will be preloaded with the DoJa platform jointly developed by the two companies. All six 3G phone models will be powered by Aplix's JBlend™ Java™ platform.

The two companies have been working to develop the new Java platform exclusively for FOMA handsets, with the goal of reducing time-to-market for these advanced 3G Java phones. The new 902i Series handsets mark a milestone as the first products to include the new Java platform. As mobile phone makers equip their products with increasingly sophisticated functionality, the new platform will accomplish two things. First, it is greatly expected to reduce the number of steps required in testing Java applications, thereby reducing the development time of the new phone models. Second, it is greatly expected to benefit content providers by increasing interoperability through a standardized Java platform.

"We are very happy to have this opportunity to work with DoCoMo on the jointly developed Java platform utilized in all six models of its 902i Series handsets. Each of these models will be filled with features that should appeal strongly to consumers," said Ryu Koriyama, CEO of Aplix. "The further evolution of the Java platform will be an indispensable element as FOMA handsets continue to add increasingly complicated functionality. Looking ahead, we hope to strengthen our partnership with DoCoMo and to play a vital role in product development together with many handset manufacturers. We also hope to be able to provide solutions in the form of new Java services that fulfill end users' requirements."

Java technology is gathering momentum as a technical platform for household devices in this era of ubiquitous computing. JBlend is our unique Java platform enabling never before seen features on mobile phones, and increasingly on digital devices. JBlend has already been deployed on over 129 million devices around the world. Aplix continues its innovative efforts to contribute to the development of consumer products that are even more appealing and easier to use than those we have today.
