Above the Samsung A501. Europe Switzerland : SDC (Secure Digital Container), the leading, fully label-approved provider of technology for Digital Rights Management (DRM), is to power three new full-fidelity music handsets on Telstra’s new 3G 850MHz Next G™ network. The new handsets are the Samsung A701, Samsung A501 and LG TU500 and are among the first available on Telstra’s new HSDPA Next G™ network. The new network, which is 100 times bigger in coverage than Telstra’s 3G mobile competitors, currently offers download speeds averaging 550Kbps to 1.5Mbps, and peak network speeds of up to 3.6Mbps. With planned increases in peak speeds of up to 14.4Mbps early next year, Telstra’s Next G™ network is ideal for full track music and other rich-media downloading. SDC’s unique and patented mobile DRM solution and the SDC-developed BigPond™ branded Java Player with integrated SDC DRM SDK allows Telstra to securely offer its subscribers a full-length, over the air, music download service. The SDC DRM Media Player allows users to download and manage music. Functions like player list generation and advanced search are part of the service, as well as a direct link to BigPond’s™ WAP music shop. The launch strengthens the relationship between Telstra and SDC, which have been working together since November 2005 to develop Telstra’s secure, feature-rich mobile music service. “We are delighted to be supporting Telstra in this exciting new phase of their mobile music offering,” says Michael Bornhäusser, CEO, SDC. “SDC’s technology coupled with the launch of Telstra’s new high speed network will create a mobile music experience that is second to none.” The addition of the three new devices means that SDC’s technology is now supported by over 90 different wireless devices worldwide, confirming SDC’s status as the world’s leading vendor of advanced DRM solutions and Java/Symbian-based Music Players for the mobile industry. The SDC technology is now supported by ten different handset manufacturers worldwide and is featured in the very latest devices from Nokia, Motorola, ZTE, HTC, Sony Ericsson, Samsung and LG among others. The portfolio of devices supported by SDC include devices running on many different types of mobile operating systems using Java and Symbian for mobile handsets designed for many different types of mobile network (GSM/2.5G/3G, CDMA, HSDPA). Current operator customers include Hutch (India), T-Mobile (Germany, UK and Czech Republic), O2 (UK & Ireland), 3 (UK), SFR (France), Amena (Spain), Telus (Canada) and Telstra (Australia). |
