5th November , 2007

US : Dilithium announced a major new release of its market leading 3G Video Stack for handset and chipset manufacturers, OEMs and ODMs. This latest release supports the recently standardized MONA (Media Oriented Negotiation Acceleration or ITU-T H.324 Annex K) and WNSRP (Windowed Numbered Simple Retransmission Protocol or ITU-T H.324 Annex A) technologies.

MONA is a set-up acceleration technique that significantly improves the video customer experience by reducing the session setup time to around one second, comparable to voice calls. Dilithium played a leading role in the standardization of MONA at the ITU-T and 3GPP. The Dilithium video stack fully supports all three MONA terminal classes for the best performance and flexibility. Full support for WNSRP is also provided. WNSRP accelerates the transport of command and control messages in video calls. The MONA and WNSRP techniques are recommended by 3GPP for video calling, including video value added services, and use Dilithium technologies at their core.

MONA is a technology that significantly improves the customer experience for person-to-person and person-to-machine video services. Subscribers will be able to establish video sessions instantly when accessing applications such as video push, portal, blogging, and Live TV, says Dr. Marwan Jabri ( inset ), Founder and Chief Technical Officer, Dilithium. The General Availability of the MONA and WNSRP enabled release follows successful trials that started in June this year with many handset and chipset vendors around the world. MONA enabled handsets will be in the hands of consumers in the next few months.

The Dilithium 3G Video Stack is the most established stack on the market. The first shipment of the stack started in 1999, and it is now in more 3G handsets brands and models than any other stack. The video stack supports all industry leading audio and video codecs, including H.264, MPEG4-part 2, H.263 as well as AMR (narrow and wide band).
