HP and Motorola's Global Telecom Solutions Sector (GTSS) today announced an expanded OEM agreement aimed at reducing network complexity and mobile operators' costs. Under
terms of the agreement, the HP OpenView TeMIP (Telecommunications Management
Information Platform) network management solution becomes the core element
in Motorola's common management platform for use in its mobile network
infrastructure technologies. The common management platform, developed
by Motorola GTSS's worldwide Operation Support Systems (OSS) engineering
team, is the basis for all newly developed Motorola Operations Maintenance
Center (OMC) systems. "HP and Motorola have a successful track record of delivering wireless network infrastructure," said Sebastiano Tevarotto, vice president and general manager, HP Network and Service Provider Business Unit. "Motorola's use of HP OpenView TeMIP as the basis of its common management platform is a good example of how our companies collaborate closely to deliver products that can give service providers a real competitive edge." Motorola selected HP OpenView TeMIP over competing telecom network and element management products because its architecture has already been proven around the world within demanding operational environments. Also, the HP solution can easily accommodate technologies from diverse vendors and can be scaled to manage large network infrastructures. "By selecting HP OpenView TeMIP as the foundation for our next-generation OSS framework, Motorola can enhance its development efforts, focus on new high-value applications and accelerate delivery of innovative OSS solutions for service providers around the world," said Tom Shirley, vice president and general manager, Motorola GTSS's OSS Division. "As a result, we already have a leading-edge OMC-U that is an integral part of our end-to-end UMTS offering." HP OpenView TeMIP's powerful, scalable and open architecture embraces numerous third-party applications, as well as standard telecom and computing interfaces. It also includes a rich set of applications, all of which allow Motorola to customize the right OSS solution for each operator's needs. As part of the OpenView portfolio of management solutions within HP's overall Integrated Service Management architecture, HP OpenView TeMIP is in use on more than 160 carrier networks worldwide. Eight out of the world's 10 largest international carriers now have deployed the solution to manage their networks. |
