Europe
: Mobile Telecom International, the Horsham, UK, based radio propagation
specialists, announce the European launch of Pilot Fleet and Pilot
Pioneer, a powerful integrated suite of wireless test tools for advanced
cellular network testing. The “all in one” concept allows
operators and their service partners to collect air interface test
data and use it efficiently for multiple applications, such as troubleshooting
and fault finding, network optimisation and performance measurements,
QoS testing and comparative benchmarking. The ITU 3G speech algorithm
PESQ is supported along with advanced diagnosis functions and user
programmable statistics and report functions. The user may export
the test data if he wishes to process it alongside core network data,
otherwise no other tools are required.
Pilot
Fleet collects the data from multiple networks via multiple channel
autonomous probes which can be located either at fixed locations or
in moving vehicles such as taxis; these probes then transmit it back
to a central database for application processing. A single system
may handle up to 256 probes. While it is designed for automatic operation,
with a considerable saving in manpower costs, the user may at any
time use a client PC to access the data stream from any probe to enable
real time analysis of the network at that location.
The sister
product, Pilot Pioneer, enables the user to manually collect data
during drive tests, or during pedestrian applications such as airports
or shopping malls. This data can be analysed in real time or later,
or added to a Pilot Fleet database to supplement the autonomous data.
Pilot Pioneer may also be remotely connected to a Fleet system to
monitor any probe’s data stream in real time. This flexibility
is made possible by the use of a common GUI for all engineering applications
whether the data is collected automatically or manually, or is analysed
in real time or post processed. This significantly improves operating
efficiency in addition to reducing training time.
The Pilot
products cover WCDMA, GSM/GPRS, and CDMA/1X/ EVDO standards and have
been designed by Dingli Communications Inc. Over the last few years
they have come to dominate the Chinese marketplace and enabled it,
despite its large geographic area and 300M subscriber base, to maintain
world class network quality. Dingli is a fully independent company
and offers equal service and support to all customers with system
functionality appropriate for all makes of network equipment.
About
MTI
MTI was formed by Mike Summerfield who owned Chase Communications
until its sale in 2001. It is staffed by professionals experienced
in radio propagation and wireless tools and has been formed to meet
the demand from the cellular industry for more efficient and cost
effective radio test solutions. MTI’s appointment by Dingli
to handle their expansion into Europe is the development of a long
standing relationship between personnel in the two companies and first
hand knowledge of the part played by Pilot tools in the success and
quality of the two Chinese networks.
