Europe : According to "connect", Europe’s largest telecom magazine, the LG U8290 from T-Mobile is a “real gem”: the trade magazine compares current UMTS phones in its October issue. The LG U8290 clearly comes out on top here with 392 out of a possible 500 points.

What’s more, the LG U8290 is “currently the best” UMTS phone in connect’s Mobile Phone Top Ten. “It leaves the whole competition standing thanks to excellent voice quality and its powerful battery”, writes the magazine’s editorial staff. The connect testers were also impressed by the phone’s high-quality finish, ease of use, excellent music player and expandable memory. T-Mobile is marketing the LG U8290 exclusively as part of a strategic partnership with the Korean electronics manufacturer LG Electronics Inc.

The LG U8290 is a well-equipped UMTS flip phone. Thanks to the video telephony function, you can see the person you’re talking to when making calls; pictures of the surroundings can also be transmitted live. The high resolution 1.3 megapixel camera with flash is mounted in the hinge and can be rotated. What’s more, the LG U8290 enables you to receive T-Mobile’s comprehensive streaming offer via UMTS, for example the new mobile TV channels.

As a result, T-Mobile customers who are on the move can keep themselves informed at all times about what’s happening in politics and business for example via “n-tv LIVE TV” or can tune into the channels “DSF mobile TV” and “CINEMA TV” to find out what’s happening in the world of sport or movies. The channels are available for free until March 31, 2006. T-Mobile also offers up-to-date information and first-rate entertainment on the LG U8290 in the form of video clips. Your musical needs are also taken care of – the integrated MP3 player allows you to play your favorite tunes. The LG U8290’s Organizer functions enable you to manage appointments and contacts, and the data can be synchronized easily with PC and laptop for example via Bluetooth.

The LG U8290 is available as of now in conjunction with a T-Mobile contract comprising the Relax 200 tariff and Data 30 data option for EUR 9.95. The phone costs EUR 369.95 without a contract.
