Europe : The Nokia N900 launch date appears to be delayed until sometime in November, 2009. This is reported by a web source in Germany closely related to the Maemo project. Other sources say that Nokia has admitted that the launch of the Nokia N900 has been delayed ( no official PR though ).
There has never been so much hype about a Nokia smartphone to-date, with a mass release of articles and videos of the Nokia N900. Oh what a disappointment Nokia, we so looking forward to doing our Nokia N900 Review too.
The Head of Maemo Marketing (Peter Schneider ) has been cited as saying that Nokia lent a further 300 Nokia N900 pre production units to open source developers in October to get more feedback. The aim of this was to ensue that Nokia provide the best possible Nokia N900 user experience.
It takes a brave manufacturer to delay a launch - so what exactly caused the delay of the Nokia N900. The reason for the Nokia N900 delay is believed to be to do with the fine tuning of Maemo open source development aspects and the Nokia N900’s on board software.
At 3G.co.uk we feel that if pre production units we lent out in October then the November relaunch date is feasible provided the feedback does not trigger any Nokia N900 firmware or hardware changes.
We will provide other updates as we learn them.
