James Bond Takes Sony Ericsson Wireless Phones
28th October 2002

Sony Ericsson has partnered with MGM and EON for the new James Bond movie, “Die Another Day”, produced by Michael G. Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, due to be arriving in cinemas in November. Pierce Brosnan is James Bond and stars alongside Halle Berry as Jinx, Rosamund Pike as Miranda Frost and Toby Stephens as the main villain; Gustav Graves. Sony Ericsson’s products have been selected to appear in the movie, and they also star in a special co-promotional campaign, that offers limited edition product packages and premium content for phones.

James Bond movies are famous for utilising futuristic gadgets in action packed adventures. In the new Bond movie “Die Another Day”, Sony Ericsson’s T68i and the imaging capabilities of the P800 smartphone will also feature in the action. The T68i, which features the latest in mobile technology MMS and Bluetooth, has picked up a variety of awards for its great usability, imaging capabilities and sleek design. The P800 has an inbuilt camera which makes taking pictures simple, images can then be viewed on a large colour touch-screen, sent via MMS or as an e-mail.
Taking advantage of the movie tie-in, Sony Ericsson will launch a series of promotional campaigns focusing on the T68i and the recently launched T300. The T300 is Sony Ericsson’s latest colour screen phone and when used with a SonyEricsson CommuniCam digital camera accessory, offers mobile imaging at an attractive price.

The high quality colour screens on both the T68i and T300 enable ‘Die Another Day’ images to be shown to maximum effect as either wallpapers or colourful MMS-messages. There are also a range of James Bond-related polyphonic ring tones for the T300 phone. Underneath the distinctive design of the T300, are an array of desirable features such as downloadable games and polyphonic audio.

“Sony Ericsson will use ‘Die Another Day’ to showcase the exiting colour imaging capabilities of our phones, as well as highlighting the rich quality of polyphonic ring signals,” says Dee Dutta, VP Global Branding & Marketing Communications at Sony Ericsson. “The sophisticated, high-tech image of James Bond is well suited to Sony Ericsson’s latest products. SonyEricsson is proud to be associated with ‘Die Another Day’, the 20th James Bond movie and an unparalleled strong property within the entertainment industry.”

In “Die Another Day”, Bond circles the world from Hong Kong to Cuba to London in his quest to unmask a traitor and prevent a war of catastrophic proportions. Ultimately it all leads to an explosive confrontation.
