Spirent Lands 3G ULTS Order from China RITT/CTTL

26th October , 2004

ASIA : Spirent Communications have announced that China RITT/CTTL (China Telecommunication Technology Labs) will utilize the Spirent UMTS Location Test System (ULTS) and UMTS Automatic Test System (U-ATS) to verify the performance of GSM and W-CDMA handsets.

Inset is the UMTS Location Test System (ULTS).

Spirent's ULTS carries out advanced testing of GSM and W-CDMA mobiles that incorporate Assisted GPS (A-GPS) location technology, the most popular choice among operators around the world that are deploying next-generation location-based services. ULTS will enable CTTL to fully test the accuracy and reliability of A-GPS-equipped mobiles in the lab prior to widespread commercial deployment. In addition, Spirent and CTTL will collaborate on the development of China A-GPS test standards.

Spirent's U-ATS will enable CTTL to evaluate the RF performance of W-CDMA terminals to relevant 3GPP test standards.

Spirent is the global leader in GPS receiver performance testing and its Position Location Test System (PLTS) has already played a key role in the successful widespread deployment of location-based services by CDMA operators in North American and Asian markets. Spirent is also a market leader in providing validated 3GPP RF test cases for evaluating W-CDMA terminals.

"By collaborating with Spirent on our mobile phone test programs, RITT/CTTL is taking advantage of Spirent's subject matter expertise in GPS, 2G and 3G wireless and building a relationship that will help us offer a comprehensive mobile phone certification service for China," said Mr. Zhang Xiang, Director of Radio Communication Department of CTTL.
