Mobile Video Entertainment Service

2nd September 2003

Europe : Mobile content provider Flix will launch the world's first network independent video service delivering multi-channel video entertainment to mobile phone users. The Flix service, which goes live in August, will stream video clips to the latest JAVA and Symbian phones with a colour screen.

Oplayo's streaming technology will be used to deliver video entertainment from Mobix Interactive including news, Jack-Ass style comedy clips, fashion, music and football as well as adult content from Soho Original.

Philip Bourchier O'Ferrall, UK Vice President at Oplayo commented: "The Oplayo streaming technology underpins the whole Flix experience and enables cross-network flexibility. The beauty is that consumers no longer need to fork out for a 3G phone to view mobile video entertainment - Flix works on 2.5G phones today. The mass-market reach of Flix is unique and the scope of the content puts as way ahead of the competition."

Nic Gorey, Managing Director at Flix added: "We have secured some fantastic content from big brand names and there is a constant churn of new video clips. The service is available to individual consumers now by downloading the Oplayer video player and play-list but distribution channels will soon expand to include mobile phone retailers who will offer the service at point of sale. "

In order to sign up users need to:

1. Ring their mobile provider and ask for Over the Air Setting for GPRS as well as enabling GPRS on their account. Or text GPRS to 80231

2. Send a text message with the words FLIX to 80231.This will automatically download a video player to your phone and a play-list of video clips.
