CNNlive is a downloadable Java application that gives i-mode customers easy to use access to the top 10 stories from CNN.com international edition. Users simply click on an interesting headline to read the story and view accompanying pictures. What's more, CNNlive is automatically updated. When 'online', CNNlive delivers the latest breaking and developing news stories in real time, ensuring that users of the service really can ‘be the first to know'. A live news ticker at the bottom of the screen completes the service, keeping users fully up to date with the current world headline news. CNNlive is available for download from CNN's i-mode site in the KPN i-mode menu. Getting started with the service is easy; customers simply subscribe to CNNlive for €2 per month and download the application to their i-mode handset. As usual, customers pay for their data traffic through their i-mode bundle. Whilst CNNlive shows the top 10 stories on the handset, automatic updates only download the latest article. A typical article is some 7kB. Customers don't need to worry about unexpected costs; the application automatically goes offline once it has been idle for 10 minutes. CNNlive is available for all i-mode customers. The only requirement is an i-mode handset with Java support. Customers with the N341i, the latest i-mode handset, are the first to be able to download CNNlive as of today. The service will be available for users of the i-mode browser compatible Nokia 3650* very soon. With i-mode, customers can surf i-mode sites, e-mail and chat, download games, applications and ringtones, send and receive photos and much more. Currently, i-mode in the Netherlands offers the choice of over 150 services from more 120 than nationally and internationally renowned content partners such as CNN, as well as access to thousands of other i-mode sites. CNN's i-mode site provides news and in-depth reports in various handy categories to customers in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany. * The Nokia 3650 is an i-mode browser compatible handset. The browser supports i-mode; some i-mode services may not be supported. i-mode and the i-mode logo are trademarks or registered trademarks of NTT DoCoMo, Inc. in Japan and other countries. |
