China : When all the 3G licences were issued way back in time who would have thought that over 60 million 3G Mobile Broadband Units could have been shipped by one company.
Huawei have confirmed they did this with sales of PC embedded modules, data cards and the newer 3G mobile broadband dongles. Inset shows the HSPA+ slide USB stick, the E182E.
The 60 million 3G Mobile Broadband Units were delivered to over 300 mobile operators in 132 countries. Huawei is the clear market leader for this sector with over 55 percent of the world-wide market.
The history of Huawei’s success in 3G Mobile Broadband Units is as follows :
- June 2006 : E220 World’s first plug-and-play USB modem.
- February 2008 : E510 - World’s first terminal to support mobile TV services.
- February 2008 : D100 - Incorporates wireless Internet access and router services.
