Apple App Store Downloads Hit 2 Billion

UK : Apple have announced that it’s App Store has now provided over two billion downloads.
The figures speak for themselves and it’s safe to say the App Store has been a huge success for Apple, who must also be reveling in its iPhone being voted the coolest brand in the UK with the Apple brand in third and iPhone in 4th.
The Apple App Store now has 85,000 applications available to download and with over 125,000 devlopers registered on the iPhone Developer Program this number will only continue to increase.
Apple now has over 50 million iPhone and iPod touch users worldwide, which explains the vast downloads they’ve achieved from the App store.
With the iPhone now being made available on Orange and Vodafone in the UK , iPhone ownership in the UK will no doubt increase.
The App Store is available in 77 countries and covers over 20 categories of applications including games, news and travel.
“The rate of App Store downloads continues to accelerate with users downloading a staggering two billion apps in just over a year, including more than half a billion apps this quarter alone”, said Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “The App Store has reinvented what you can do with a mobile handheld device, and our users are clearly loving it”.
