Finland : The finnish mobile Giant Nokia have confirmed they have “acquired” Dopplr.
Dopplr provide mobile services to international travelers, with the company motto being “Dopplr makes your travel planning smarter”.
Dopplr was a small company consisting of only seven employees shared between offices in London and Helsinki.
Employee knowledge will now be passed into Nokia’s service unit and will assist in creating internet based communities and services for Nokia.
Dopplr is like an in-club for frequent travelers with Dopplr members sharing travel plans privately with their networks, exchange tips on places to stay, eat and explore in cities around the world. Dopplr then presents this “collective intelligence” as a Social Atlas.
The acquisition doesn’t change the availability of the Dopplr application, which is still available to download at http://www.dopplr.com/.
