The Google Pixel 6a is Google’s mid-range alternative to the flagship Pixel 6 range, but while this phone is cheaper than its high-end siblings, it’s almost as good in most of the ways that matter.

For one thing, it has the same Google Tensor chipset as those phones, so it’s powerful, and particularly adept at AI tasks. This is a bespoke chipset that you won’t find in any non-Pixel phones too, so it stands out from the crowd.

There’s also a fairly compact but crisp and clear 6.1-inch 1080 x 2400 OLED screen, offering 429 pixels per inch, so it’s a joy to look at, and it sports Google’s now iconic Pixel 6 design, with a camera visor running across the back of the phone.

The Google Pixel 6a also runs the slickest, purest take on Android you’ll find, and it will be first in line for Android updates.

Plus, its cameras stand out, because as well as using great hardware for the 12.2MP main and 12MP ultra-wide camera on the back, Google has also imbued the snappers with the company’s AI smarts, enabling impressive modes like Magic Eraser, which can completely remove unwanted people or objects from photos.

The Pixel 6a also sports an under-display fingerprint scanner, water resistance, a healthy 128GB of storage, and 6GB of RAM, so Google gives you plenty for your money here.
