Overview

The Nokia 2.2 isn’t going to be winning any awards for its specs, power or features, but it’s not trying to. What it’s trying – and largely succeeding – to do is offer all the basics of a smartphone paired with acceptable performance at a very low price, making it a great handset for anyone who only needs a basic smartphone, or as back-up phone.

It’s also fairly compact by modern phone standards, with a 5.71-inch screen and dimensions of 146 x 70.6 x 9.3mm, so it’s pocket-friendly.

Highlights of the Nokia 2.2, other than its price, include a 720 x 1520 display, giving you a clear view onto apps and media, and a near-stock version of Android, offering a smooth, intuitive, bloat-free interface.

More specifically it runs Android One, which ensures it will get software updates and generally runs more smoothly than other takes on the OS.

The Nokia 2.2 also has a dedicated Google Assistant button, so you’re never more than a single press away from getting AI assistance. And that’s not the only Google thing baked into the Nokia 2.2, as its 13MP camera also has Google Lens incorporated, letting you aim your camera at objects and have Google provide information on them.

There’s also facial recognition and a microSD card slot, so security is covered and there’s plenty of space for apps and media.
