Overview

The OnePlus 8 is a cheaper alternative to the monstrous OnePlus 8 Pro, but while it’s not quite a match for that phone, it’s still a fantastic handset – and brilliantly good value.

It has an octa-core Snapdragon 865 chipset, which is the most powerful chipset you’ll find in any mid-2020 Android flagship. It also has up to 12GB of RAM, making it just as powerful in total as most top-end phones. It even comes with 5G support as standard.

The OnePlus 8 also has a 6.55-inch 1080 x 2400 Fluid AMOLED screen with HDR10+ support and a 90Hz refresh rate. That refresh rate is 50% higher than most phones, causing interactions to feel slicker and smoother.

And the OnePlus 8 has a triple-lens camera, with a 48MP main sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide one, and a 2MP macro one – so whether you want to take in a whole landscape or a single flower, the OnePlus 8 has a lens to suit.

With its 4,300mAh battery there’s no danger of it running out of juice part way through the day either, and when it does need charging you can make use of super-speedy 30W fast charging.

Plus, the OnePlus 8 also has up to 256GB of storage, so there’s plenty of space, and it has a slim, stylish build that’s every bit as good-looking as most phones that cost a lot more.
