Overview

The Samsung Galaxy A40 is an all-screen phone and when we say all-screen, we mean it, well, mostly anyway. There’s a tiny notch at the top and a negligible strip of bezel at the bottom, but the front really is almost entirely screen.

And it’s a good screen too. The Galaxy A40 has a large 5.9-inch 1080 x 2340 display with a pixel density of 437 pixels per inch, meaning it’s sharp, and it uses Super AMOLED, so you also get great contrast between blacks and whites, making this one of the best mid-range screens you’ll find.

A wide 19.5:9 aspect ratio ensures it’s got a modern look too, and in fact the whole phone looks good, with a ‘Glasstic’ back and a slim 7.9mm thick build.

Other highlights of the Samsung Galaxy A40 include a dual-lens rear camera, with both a 16MP f/1.7 main lens and a 5MP f/2.2 ultra-wide one with a 123-degree field of view, so you can fit more in your shots. The phone also comes with a wealth of shooting modes and a 25MP front-facing camera, so whatever you’re taking a picture of you’ll have the right tool.

The Samsung Galaxy A40 also has a fingerprint scanner on the back, plus an octa-core Exynos 7885 chipset and 4GB of RAM, ensuring it’s got the power you need.

There’s plenty of storage, with 64GB built in plus a microSD card slot for expansion, and the 3,100mAh battery gives you enough juice to last a full day, while fast charging ensures you’ll never be out of power for long.
