Asus unveiled the MeMo Pad at this years CES 2013 which took place last week in Las Vegas. The Memo Pad is an affordable Android tablet that looks set to be priced under £100 when it lands in the UK.
Interestingly, Asus has chosen to undercut the Google Nexus 7 (£159) which is a device they themselves manufacture for the search giant. To be fair to Asus the is Memo an even more affordable tablet , but the important question is whether it offers as much value as Google's tablet ?
The Asus MeMo Pad has a lower specification than the Nexus 7 as you'd expect from a device priced £60 lower. However, it still has a 7 inch touch-screen which runs at a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and importantly the tablet runs on Android Jelly Bean.
Asus's tablet is powered by a 1 GHz processor which works in combination with a Mali-400 GPU. The Memo Pad also has 1GB of RAM and will be available in two models with either 8GB or 16GB of on-board memory.
Other features of Asus's Memo Pad include a 1 mega-pixel front-facing camera , microSD support and WiFi connectivity. In the US the tablet will be priced at $149 which equates to around £100 in the UK and will land in April.
3G thinks that the Memo Pad offers excellent value for those looking for a tablet for browsing and social networking. While. the inclusion of Android Jelly Bean means it supports all the latest mobile applications and games.
