Maisie Williams of Game of Thrones fame is the star of a new video advert (below), in which she talks about her blackspot problem, but despite having the style of a typical beauty advert this is actually an ad for Three, and rather than skin blemishes it’s talking about areas with no mobile signal.
For the first 30 seconds or so this isn’t made clear though, in fact Three intentionally misleads, for maximum comedy value, with Maisie saying how her blackspot problem has left her stuck inside and feeling like “the loneliest person alive.”
But, she explains, thanks to 4G Super-Voice her blackspots are history, as 4G Super-Voice uses unique “science-y stuff” and “wall going through technology” to fight indoor blackspots.

It’s a funny advert, and it highlights one of Three’s best features, which we’ve covered in detail in our guide above. Essentially it allows you to make calls over 4G, which is a service that no other UK network currently offers, and which provides stronger indoor mobile signal, so you’re more likely to get reception.
Speaking about the advert, Lianne Norry, director of brand and communications at Three said: “We’ve absolutely loved working with Maisie on this campaign and were genuinely excited that she agreed to be involved. From the moment we approached her with the idea she was on board, up for the gag, and she contributed significantly to how it developed.
“Every network suffers from the occasional blackspot but our new 4G Super-Voice technology is eradicating the problem for Three customers, so it’s becoming a thing of the past. Maisie has helped us to turn a technical topic on its head by parodying a very familiar cliché!”
