The HTC One M8 wowed us with its premium unibody design and comprehensive feature-set, but it lacked one feature present on its rivals and that's a waterproof design. However, that's all about to change with the new HTC One M8 Prime which is set to really shake things up.
Images of the new smartphone have been posted by EVLeaks and you can clearly spot the waterproof seal that's been added to the smartphones Duo Camera, which all but confirms that you'll also be able to take snaps and videos while submerged!
The new premium version of HTC's smartphone will not only be dunkable, like the Galaxy S5 and Xperia Z2, but it's also expected to come with a larger 5.5-inch QHD display (2560*1440 pixels). That would deliver a staggering 534 pixels-per-inch rating, which puts the HTC One M8's 440ppi 5-inch display firmly in the shade.
Power is also set to get a boost with a faster 2.5GHz Snapdragon 805 processor and 3GB of RAM rumoured to be included. It's not just the hardware that's getting stepped-up either because it's expected to come pre-loaded with HTC Sense 6.5, that's a brand new version of HTC's custom user-interface.
It shouldn't be too long until HTC officially unveil the One M8 Prime and as soon as we get more information you'll be the first to know. Rumours of its release have certainly put those considering picking up the One M8 in a tough position: do they wait for the Prime or buy the One M8 today... tough call.
HTC arn't the only company working on a premium version of their flagship smartphone because Samsung are also working on the Galaxy S5 Prime which will come with a higher quality metal build, a QHD display and a faster processor. Read more about the Galaxy S5 Prime here.
