LG G3 teaser video has got us hot under the collar for LG's new flagship
A new teaser video for the successor to the LG G2 has now been released by the Korean company, which is accompanied by the tagline 'Simple Is The New Smart'. It's certainly done its job by revealing just enough to get us hyped for the smartphone, without spoiling the official unveiling on May 27th.
The first thing that's immediately apparent is that the LG G3 will have a premium brushed aluminium exterior, like the HTC One M8. That conflicts with previous leaked images of LG's smartphone which showed a plastic design, but you can't get more official then a video from LG themselves.
In another nod to HTC's flagship the video also gives us a glimpse at the widely rumoured IR Blaster. That should enable the smartphone to double as a remote, but it's also been suggested that it could be used in conjunction with the camera to boost low-light performance.
One thing the video did reveal about the camera is that it'll have dual-LED flashes and will adopt LG's floating camera lens (pictured above), meaning it'll come with optical-image-stabilisation. The clever lens accounts for any hands movements when shooting to minimise jerkiness and blur.
We also get a glimpse at a new redesigned rear-volume rocker and KnockCode, which features prominently on the front of the device and looks set to be incorporated into a new case, similar to the Galaxy Note 3's S-View case. That's about all we can glean from the video.
Rumours suggest that the LG G3 will come with a 5.5-inch QHD display (2560*1440 pixels) delivering a eye-popping 554ppi (pixels-per-inch). Apparently, it'll be powered 2.2GHz Octa-core processor, will have a 13 mega-pixel camera and will support microSD cards (which was lacking on the LG G2).
We'll bring you all the details from the LG G3 official unveiling on May 27th where the smartphone will be unveiled alongside the LG G Watch. You can learn more about LG's first smartwatch here.
