Owners of Android and iOS devices can now make free calls to their contacts on the new version of the BBM application.
The option to make audio calls was lacking from the original release, but it's now been included in BBM 2.0. Audio calling is supported over WiFi or data and all you can need to do is hit the green call icon on a contact to make a call.
BBM Channels have also been added, enabling you to chat with other BBM users on popular topics such as sports, cars, entertainment and hobbies. It's the perfect place to meet new people.
Other new features making their debut in BBM 2.0 include "Glympse", which enables others to monitor your location for a short period.
When chatting with a contact you now quickly and easily send a photo, file or audio clip, while 'Dropbox' integration enables you to send a file directly from your cloud storage.
A whole host of new emotions (or smileys if you prefer) have been added and BBM Groups can now contain as many as 50 people.
BlackBerry will add support for video calling in the next version of BBM, which will make a true rival to Microsoft's Skype application. As soon as we get news of any updates to BlackBerry's application we'll let you know.
