Thanks to the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 being recalled it’s essentially been two years since the last flagship Samsung phablet, but a new one has finally arrived in the form of the stylus-packing Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
And it’s undoubtedly been worth the wait, as the Note 8 is just about the most powerful and feature-packed phone around. It has a huge 6.3-inch 1440 x 2960 Super AMOLED screen for a super-sharp 521 pixels-per-inch. It’s also curved, with almost no bezel, and you can unlock it with an iris or fingerprint scan.
The build is stunning too, with a water and dust resistant glass back and metal frame, just like the Samsung Galaxy S8, but this is more than just an S8 with a bigger screen, as Samsung has packed in 6GB of RAM (up from 4GB in the Galaxy S8), alongside a speedy octa-core Exynos 8895 processor, clocked at up to 2.3GHz.
The other big change is the camera, which has gained a lens. With the Galaxy Note 8 you have two 12MP lenses on the back, one of which is a wide-angle and the other a telephoto. That allows for 2x optical zoom, as well as the ability to blur the background of shots for a bokeh effect, and is backed up by the sheer quality of the lenses, which as on the S8 are among the best around.
If you like the sound of it you can pre-order the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 now on Three, where plans start at £44 per month with £99 upfront. Act fast and you’ll even get a free DeX Station thrown in. This costs £130 usually and lets you hook the Note 8 up to a monitor to use like a PC. The Note 8 hits stores on September 15th.
