Samsung have unveiled the Galaxy S2 Plus which is an improved version of the original Galaxy S2 , which first launched almost two years ago. The original Galaxy SII continues to sell really well , so it should come as no surprise to see Samsung releasing an updated version.
So how the does the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus improve on the original ?
The major improvement brought by the new model is that it comes pre-loaded with Android Jelly Bean (4.1.2).
That brings with it support for Multi-view which enables true split-screen multi-tasking , as well as the new Page Buddy feature which opens dedicated home-screens activated by certain criteria (Such as plugging in headphones).
As always with a new version of Android you get application improvements across the board , as well as speed and performance benefits. The Galaxy S2 Plus already had some great software features including S-Voice , Voice Unlocking , Smart Alert . Smart Stay and Direct Calling.
When it comes to hardware improvements the Galaxy S2 Plus is disappointing because it's largely the same as its predecessor. The touch-screen is identical to the original's (4.3 inch 800*480 pixels) , while it also features the same 1.2 Ghz dual-core processor backed up by 1GB of RAM.
Infact, the only difference between the two smartphones is a negative one because the S2 Plus has 8GB of onboard memory which is half that of the original. So right now the only reason to get the S2 Plus is that it comes pre-loaded with Jelly Bean , which will be released sometime in the future for the original Galaxy SII.
So what is the point of the Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus ?
Well, 3G think it might have been developed for other markets because Samsung have confirmed that the smartphone won't launch in the UK. Maybe the changes made to Samsung's smartphone have led to cost savings which mean they can charge less for it in price-sensitive markets.
