We recently compiled our Samsung Galaxy S5 rumour round up which we posted on 2nd January. However, a lot can happen in a few days when you are talking about such a hotly anticipated smartphone.
Fresh news has now broken from Korea. At a New Years Eve Party in the Shilla Hotel in Seoul Dong-hoon Chang (above), Samsung Head of Design Strategy, spilled some useful tit bits to reporters. He was asked a number of questions about the Galaxy S5 and gave a few teasing answers.
Firstly, Chang was quoted as saying that the Galaxy S5 would arrive around the time of February’s Mobile World Congress (MWC) which occurs on February 24 -27. This leads us that it would be logical to say that the S5 will be formally announced in the second half of February.
Secondly, Chang confirmed that the Galaxy S5 would be made from a “new material” and that his people were looking into the possibility of adding a flexible display on the device. Unfortunately, Chang didn’t go as far as to say what the new material would be. The two most popular rumours to-date suggest it will come in either Aluminium or Carbon Fibre.
It seems a little late to us to be looking at adding a flexible display to the Galaxy S5, so could the aforementioned flexible display be landing on the other rumoured premium version of the Galaxy S5- codenamed the Galaxy F.
The Galaxy F is rumoured to be based on the S5 but will come with a more premium look and feel, along with a higher specification. Maybe a “Super Smartphone” or such.
More from 3G.co.uk on the Samsung Galaxy S5 as soon as we hear more.
Did you know the Galaxy S5 could come with an eye scanner?
