The world seems obsessed with selfies so it’s about time a phone got in on the act and actually gave users a decent camera to take them with. That’s exactly what the Sony Xperia C3 has done as it has a 5 megapixel front-facing ‘PROselfie cam’.
Why is it called a ‘PROselfie cam’? Well, because not only is it relatively rich in megapixels, but it’s also wide-angle, so you can fit more in the frame and it has a soft LED flash so you can easily take flattering photos in any light.
You don’t need to hit an awkward shutter button either, instead you just tap the back of the phone twice or activate Smile Shutter to take the photo when you smile. Superior Auto mode optimally adjusts the cameras settings and once you have a photo you can share it with friends in just three taps.
The camera even comes packed with a range of selfie apps, such as Portrait Retouch, which essentially lets you retouch an image to make it look better, and Photo effects, which allows you to add image trails, mirror effects and more.
While the Xperia C3 is certainly being sold on its selfie skills that’s not all there is to it. It also has a large 5.5 inch 720 x 1280 IPS LCD display, a 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, a slim 7.6mm build, an 8 megapixel rear camera, 4G support, Dual SIM slots so you can have two different SIM cards in your phone- one for work and one for personal calls for example and a sizeable 2500 mAh battery.
The Sony Xperia C3 is launching globally in August in a choice of black, white or mint. The price hasn’t yet been confirmed, but it has the specs of a mid-range handset, so we’d expect it to go for between around £250 and £300.
