There was a time when Three stood out mostly for its low prices and unlimited data, and while those two strengths remain intact, there’s now a lot more to love about the network, and it’s only getting better, as the latest RootMetrics results show.
RootMetrics, if you’ve not come across it before, is an independent company that carries out comprehensive tests on mobile networks, and in a recent special report it found that Three stood out in a number of ways.
In tests across the UK, Three scored very high in five of the six categories, including reliability, which is arguably the most important, as an unreliable network is the last thing you want.
Three also achieved strong results for text performance, call performance and data performance, with its text performance score being especially notable as this one was a huge improvement on its score from 2015.
With high scores in all these categories it’s no surprise that Three also got near top marks for overall performance, meaning it’s a great network whatever you value.
Network speed was the only area where Three wasn’t leaping ahead, but even there RootMetrics notes that this is largely because it doesn’t yet have comprehensive 4G coverage – as coverage increases throughout 2017 you can expect Three’s average speeds to skyrocket.
It’s worth noting that these results aren’t just for England, but for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland as well, so Three’s a strong choice wherever you are – and improving all the time.
And these results were based on 804,430 tests, across 24,600 miles and 851 indoor locations, with both rural and urban areas tested, so you can be confident that the results are accurate.
It’s a strong showing then from Three, and an improvement on the previous year. Hopefully that’s a trend that will continue in 2017’s tests.
