Microsoft are going to release Windows Phone 7.8 at the start of 2013, but those who like to live dangerously can download and install the update today.
Windows Phone 7.8 has been unofficially leaked and is available to download on Navifirm. The crew over at MyNokiaBlog have already installed the update on their Nokia Lumia 820. Apparently, everything went fine , but then they are mobile experts and we'd only recommend experienced users to install the leak.
Windows Phone 7.8 will be available on a huge range of smartphones. However, the leaked version only supports the Nokia Lumia 900, 800, 610, 710 or 510. The update brings a vast number of improvement to Windows Phone 7 smartphones includng some introduced in Windows Phone 8.
One new inclusion is support for re-sizeable Live tiles which enable users to customise their home-screen with more accuracy than ever before. Microsoft have also doubled the number of theme colours available , while the lock-screen now has more customization options.
Windows Phone 7.8 also adds support for Bluetooth file-sharing , an MP3 editor to make ring-tones , a new boot-screen and a whole host of other visual tweaks. As you'd expect the update also resolves a number of bugs affecting the platform and improves the overall speed of the OS.
3G recommends that users wait for Microsoft to officially release the Windows Phone 7.8 update. However, the leak seems to be working perfectly so experienced mobile users shouldn't be too fearful of installing the update on their Lumia smartphone today !
