Sony Ericsson Xperia Play Full Details Emerge

With the Mobile World Congress (MWC) quickly approaching more and more leaks are emerging about mobiles which will be showcased at the event in Barcelona.

The Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, which for a long time was known as the Playstation mobile, is one such device.

Engadget have been lucky enough to get their hands on the actual mobile and have given details about its specification and the physical build of the mobile.

The Xperia Play has a 4 inch touch-screen which runs at a resolution of  854*480 pixels. It's also rumoured to be powered by the mobile Bravia engine, which ensures optimal playback.

The smartphone is a powerhouse and features a 1 GHz processor, although the exact speed hasn't been confirmed and its possible it could be as fast as 1.2 GHz. This is combined with an Adreno 205 GPU and 512MB of ram making it one of the fastest mobiles in mobile benchmarks.

Engadget did report that sadly the WiFi isn't currently working on the mobile, but we're sure thats nothing to worry about.

The Xperia Play features 4 buttons underneath the screen which are back, home, menu and search. It also features two other buttons for power and volume which are apparently quite fiddly and awkward.

The sliding "Playstation" controller has the four classic facebuttons and a d-pad, as well as two gamepad triggers on the back of the mobile. However, there still aren't any details about the possibility of adding analogue sticks to the space in the middle of the mobile.

It won't be long now till the official announcement of the Xperia Play and we think it will be one of the highlights of MWC.
