Europe UK : Lenovo announced the availability of Vodafone's high speed 3G broadband connectivity on selected ThinkPad T60 and X60 notebooks. Customers will be able to enjoy the benefitsof high-speed mobile data networking without the need to use external datacards. The Lenovo ThinkPad notebooks provide built-in, cost effective and secure mobile data connectivity enabling customers to access the Internet, email and corporate applications wherever a Vodafone signal is present. ThinkPad customers will be able to upgrade their notebooks to take advantage of the introduction of 3G broadband (HSDPA), which should boost current 3G download speeds by approximately four times. Mark Bond, director of enterprise marketing, Vodafone UK, said: "Our collaboration with Lenovo is an important part of Vodafone UK's plan to provide products and services that bring the full potential of mobile broadband to life for our customers. Customers will benefit from built-in 3G broadband, which shortens the time to get up and running while on the move and will significantly improve access to email, office networks, company information and the Internet with speeds of up to four times those currently offered by 3G." "The partnership with Vodafone helps us provide ThinkPad customers with a truly mobile computing environment," said Vincent Fauquenot, EMEA Marketing Director, Lenovo. "The integration of 3G broadband capability added to existing WiFi and Ethernet connectivity, when managed by Lenovo's Access Connections software allows seamless roaming between wired and wireless networks while minimizing complex configuration and reducing the overall total cost of ownership." The integrated notebooks are now available directly from Lenovo and through IT resellers and Vodafone UKpartners. ThinkPad notebooks are already recognised as having industry leading security features. In addition, ThinkPad notebooks with integrated WWAN with 3G capabilities will enable IT departments to make the most out of mobile working and enable their workforce to be more productive and flexible. A cost effective, integrated solution from trusted and reliable partners, means IT departments can also avoid hardware incompatibility issues, plus they can expect less hardware to troubleshoot and replace - as no PC card is necessary for connection - and improved data security for employees who frequently travel.
