Sony’s high-end phones have struggled to stand out much lately, but it’s still one of the kings of the mid-range and the new Sony Xperia XA2 shows why.
Out now on Three from £24 per month plus £29 upfront, this phone has a lot going for it, including an impressive 23MP camera built for clear low light photography and capable of shooting 4K video.
The front-facing camera also impresses, thanks to an 8MP super wide-angle lens which gives you space to fit everyone in the shot.
Other highlights of the Sony Xperia XA2 include its eye-catching 5.2-inch edge-to-edge screen. It’s a 1080 x 1920 one with a pixel density of 424 pixels per inch, so it’s nice and sharp. Being almost bezel-free at the sides it ensures the phone is also quite compact, so you can easily use it with one hand.
The battery is worth highlighting too, as at 3,300mAh it’s big for a phone of this size – outmatching the Samsung Galaxy S8 for example. It also sports smart charging and real-time battery health monitoring, to ensure the battery doesn’t wear out as fast as other phones.
The Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra also has an octa-core Snapdragon 630 chipset and 3GB of RAM, giving it upper mid-range power, and it’s built for music fans, thanks to Smart Amplifier technology for loud and clear sound, ClearAudio+ for balanced audio and Clear BASS tech, which delivers distortion-free bass.
All that and there’s a fingerprint scanner too, plus it runs Android Oreo, so its software is up to date.
Better yet, grab it on Three by the 25th of February and the network will chuck in a free Sony headset, and on certain plans you’ll also have access to Go Binge, allowing you to stream audio and video without it coming out of your data allowance, so you can make the most of the screen and sound quality.
