| ASIA : Institute for International Research (IIR) Ltd announced today that the 3G World Congress and Exhibition 2005 will be held at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre on November 14-18. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the leading event in Asia for global mobile and wireless industry covering all 3G and emerging wireless technologies. New elements including the "Networking Area" and the "WiMAX Village" will be added to this year's event. Together with a projected increase of more than 50% exhibition space, the 3G World Congress and Exhibition 2005 is poised to provide the best platform for the industry to convene and network. "With operator roll-outs worldwide gathering strong momentum, increased industry investment, and a critical mass of over 140 million subscribers in more than 50 countries at the end of 2004, 3G has finally arrived," said Daniel Kirwin, Managing Director of Asia, IIR - the organizer of the 3G World Congress and Exhibition. "Covering all 3G and emerging wireless technologies including CDMA2000, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, WiMAX, WiBro, DMB/DVB-H and HSDPA, the 3G World Congress and Exhibition is Asia's leading venue to network with customers and industry partners, strengthen market positioning and branding, and promote the latest developments in the industry." Networking Area powered by Cisco Systems New for this year's 3G World Congress and Exhibition, the "Networking Area" sponsored and powered by Cisco Systems will provide a central venue for visitors and exhibitors to access emails and website via wireless broadband network. Cisco will provide convenient wireless access with enhanced security for the "Networking Area." The WiMAX Village Another highlight of the 3G World Congress and Exhibition 2005 is the "WiMAX Village". According to In-Stat*, a leading technology research firm, 8.5 million subscribers worldwide will be using WiMAX-based broadband wireless access services by 2009. Nearly 4.5 million of these wireless broadband subscribers will also subscribe to Voice over WiMAX services. As WiMAX will be a technology under the limelight this year, the "Wireless Village" is dedicated to exhibitors developing WiMAX solutions as a centralized venue for WiMAX developers to demonstrate its benefits to telecom operators. |
