7th August, 2009

Europe : Hay Systems in the UK have launched a new Picocell for 2.75G which is aimed at large to small GSM operators. 3G users are able to access the Picocell via 2G support ( GPRS ) and EDGE. The 2.75G Picocell therefore allows operators to target both their 2G mobile phone users and their 3G mobile phone users.

The HSL 2.75G Femtocell allows network operators to support both their dominant 2G subscriber base and also their growing 3G subscriber base. It provides first class indoor coverage and outside services at EDGE mobile data speeds and is simple to deploy and operate. The Picocell supports supports GSM, GPRS and EDGE wireless .networks.

The new 2.75G Picocell is launched in direct competition with the nanoBTS and Hay Systems believe the unique selling point for this product is that it supports 2G, 2.75G and 3G technology. The Picocell is suitable to work in residences, offices, underground facilities and rural locations and will be available in  December, 2009.
