mobile telecommunications infrastructure software provider Softwired AG
and Metrowerks, a leader in wireless development tools and services, today
announced a partnership to provide the advanced development tools for
wireless Java(TM) technology for enterprise application development. Also announced, CodeWarrior(TM) Wireless Studio, Professional Edition, Version 7.0, supports the Java Message Service(TM) (JMS) standard using the leading iBus//Mobile message-oriented middleware technology from Softwired. JMS, part of the Java 2 Enterprise Edition (J2EE(TM)) specification, is already supported by the major application server vendors and is implemented in many enterprises as the messaging middleware of choice. iBus//Mobile enables effective communication with guaranteed delivery of JMS messages between applications despite sporadic network disconnects or periods of off-line service usage. It is ideally suitable for messaging over packet-oriented 2.5G and 3G networks. Messaging has been implemented seamlessly atop GSM, Wireless LAN, GPRS and UMTS among others. Now, JMS can be integrated with XML and SOAP, as well as with other middleware technologies such as CORBA, Enterprise Java Beans (EJBs) and Microsoft .NET. "By making JMS technology readily available, we are able to help wireless developers solve the problems they face producing secure, fast, guaranteed communication and synchronization between wireless devices and enterprise applications," said John Smolucha, vice president of marketing, Metrowerks. "Our relationship with Softwired is a key element in making CodeWarrior Wireless Studio the tool of choice for enterprise application developers." "CodeWarrior Wireless Studio 7 leads the market as the most advanced development tool for wireless applications," said Mike Wilson, Director of Product Management at Softwired. "We are very excited about the value this alliance brings to developers in a market set to expand rapidly over the next two to five years. We believe this to be the standard by which other companies will be measured in terms of speed and ease of use in the development of the very best mobile applications." CodeWarrior Wireless Studio is part of a comprehensive portfolio of wireless development tools from Metrowerks that includes support for Java Card(TM) technology, Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE(TM)), Java 2 Micro Edition (J2ME(TM)) and PersonalJava(TM) platforms. CodeWarrior is also the tool of choice for the Symbian OS(TM) and the market leader in development tools for Palm OS(TM) handheld computers. Metrowerks also delivers core processor tools used for wireless device creation, base station infrastructure, and network equipment. These tools target a wide range of processor architectures including ARM(R), DragonBall(TM), Hitachi, M-Core, StarCore(R), as well as many Digital Signal Processors (DSPs). Beyond delivering tools for wireless development, Metrowerks is the only tools company that provides a 2.5G live network for wireless applications testing. |
