J2ME is the technology of choice for next-generation 3G wireless
25th March 2002

Antepo, Inc., a leading provider of Presence-based Mobile Messaging technology, and Motorola are demonstrating Jabber on the Motorola Embedded Reference Implementation for J2ME™ Technology (MERI) at Sun Microsystems' annual JavaOne(SM) Conference in San Francisco.

"MERI has shipped in a wide variety of handsets. As the industry's proven J2ME solution, MERI enables OEMs to quickly develop Java powered wireless devices," Anne-Marie Larkin, vice president and director of operations for Motorola's Wireless Software Applications and Services division, at SPS says. "Our proven industry leadership in J2ME and cutting-edge products such as Antepo's ACCEPT™ show that the combination of leading technologies will drive wide adoption of J2ME as the standard for small, mobile, network-aware devices."

Shown publicly for the first time at JavaOne, Antepo's ACCEPT demonstration further illustrates cooperation between Antepo and Motorola to utilize the power of MERI. ACCEPT is ported to MERI as part of Antepo's Jabber-based Presence and Messaging solutions.

"Antepo views J2ME as a dominant client-side technology for 2.5G and 3G wireless services. Cooperating with leading players like Motorola maintains and increases our edge in that field," Max Seguineau, chairman and CEO of Antepo, says. "Antepo's ACCEPT shows J2ME is ready for primetime."
