Unity
Wireless Corporation a leading provider of RF (radio frequency) power
amplifiers to the wireless telecommunications industry, today announced
that
it signed a joint development agreement with Radio Components Sweden
AB for
the design and manufacture of an advanced Feedforward multi carrier
linear
power amplifier (MCLPA) for integration into Radio Components' high
coverage
transmission antenna systems for the 3G European markets.
The development agreement provides for the sharing of expenses and
technology to design and build an amplifier to power Radio Components'
Phased
Array Antenna technology. The anticipated benefits of a transmission
system of
this type include a larger coverage area, more powerful signal and lower
operating costs per base station for wireless service providers.
"The European 3G market for our system is substantial given its
benefit
to our customers. The deployment of Radio Components' new high coverage
antennas depends on the development of a reliable and efficient high
performance MCLPA," said Torbjorn Johnson, Founder and CEO of Radio
Components. "We believe Unity Wireless has the combination of skills
and
experienced engineers required for a complex project of this nature."
Mr. Johnson is a well-known pioneer of the radio transmission systems
now
used for wireless telecommunications. In 1978, Mr. Johnson founded Radiosystem
AB in Kista, Sweden to develop mobile network components, and by 1984,
Radiosystem was designing base stations. In 1988, Radiosystem was acquired
by
L.M. Ericsson Telephone Co., also of Sweden, where Mr. Johnson worked
until
1995 in positions including Technical Director. Mr. Johnson founded
Radio
Components Sweden AB to develop antenna technology to aid in the deployment
of
next generation wireless networks.
"We are very excited to be working with Mr. Johnson and Radio Components
Sweden to meet their specific RF power amplifier needs as we believe
their
systems offer a solution to increasing wireless network coverage, which
is
expected to be one of the first challenges faced by wireless service
providers
as 3G networks are launched in Europe," said Unity Wireless Corporation
President, Ilan Kenig. "We view it as an endorsement of our engineering
team
that Radio Components has chosen to work with Unity Wireless. This agreement
also follows recently awarded orders from new customers in Europe and
further
validates the efforts of Unity Wireless' Vice President of Sales, Chris
Neumann and the cooperation of our European distributor ACAL in Sweden."
About Radio Components Sweden AB http://www.radiocomponents.com
Radio Components is a new and unique niche company in wireless business,
founded in 1999 by Mr Torbjorn Johnson - a well-known pioneer in radio
communications. The Company's professionals have more than 200 years
of
experience in Cellular Base Stations. Located north of Stockholm, the
European
cellular headquarter with neighbours like Ericsson and Nokia, Radio
Components' business idea is to improve and increase performance in
Cellular
Systems by developing Phased Array Antenna technology, subsystems and
Base
Station components. Radio Components offers new technology to selected
operators for most of today's existing and emerging Cellular Standards.

Thousands of Unity Wireless's family of high performance RF (radio
frequency) power amplifiers are utilized in current wireless networks
supporting cost effective, reliable end-to-end voice and data communications.
We support current and next generation network technologies including
Cellular, PCS (Personal Communications Services - TDMA, CDMA, GSM),
Paging,
WLL (Wireless Local Loop), BWA (Broadband Wireless Access) and 3G (third
generation) W-CDMA and CDMA2000 frequencies. Designed, assembled, tuned
and
tested in our Burnaby, British Columbia facility, Unity Wireless amplifiers
