27th May , 2009

UK : The Carphone Warehouse will be the exclusive European distributer of HipLogic’s SnappLife – a mobile service that provides users with a mobile-rich application. The ‘always on’ programme brings a range of applications to Symbian series 60 and Windows Mobile handsets.

A number of free subscriptions are on offer at start up to provide live updates on the phone’s homescreen, including Sky News, Sky Sports, Twitter, WeatherBug and Finance. SnappLife also provides one touch access to native phone applications such as Facebook, Google Search and Google Maps.

“The Carphone Warehouse is committed to delivering the best possible mobile experience and incentives for all involved” said Andrew Harrison, CEO of The Carphone Warehouse.  “We believe that everyone wants access to the best mobile apps and services.  Through our partnership with HipLogic we are delivering a compelling experience for tens of millions of mobile phones across the UK and throughout Europe.”

Developers will, from today, have the opportunity to design applications for SnappLife which will be made available to purchase. Whether it’s a simple game or a rich application that takes advantage of all SnappLife’s features, developers can get started building their applications for SnappLife via http://www.hiplogic.com/.

“Consumers have spoken and, it is clear that they want easy access to the web and apps on their mobile phones.” Said Mark Anderson, CEO of HipLogic.  “SnappLife delivers the personalised information, entertainment and services that today’s mobile consumers want.  We believe that The Carphone Warehouse is the perfect partner to help users easily discover, download and personalise SnappLife.”

David Gibbs General Manager – Mobile of Sky “SnappLife offers an excellent platform for Sky to deliver our mobile content, giving our customers even more choice over where and when they choose to consume it. We are excited to be able to provide our new Sky News and Sky Sports applications without charge as we work hard towards delivering further applications later in 2009.”

Users can sign up to the service at selected stores of The Carphone Warehouse, online at http://www.snapplife.com, or by texting “snapp” to “64246’. Developers can get the best of their content by utilising the platform’s home screen updates and widgets, multitasking app environment, and full integration into phone features.
