|
17th November, 2003 |
|
ASIA : LG Electronics, propelled by its aggressive brand marketing and large-scale exports of CDMA and GSM mobile phones, has emerged as a major player in the U.S. mobile phone market. LG Electronics (CEO and Vice Chairman S.S.Kim / www.lge.com) has started supplying first GSM phone sets to the major communications company Cingular; thus penetrating GSM markets with its advanced technology and differentiated designs. Cingular Wireless and LG Electronics today announced that Cingular is the first carrier in the U.S. to offer LG's new line of handsets for the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM). LG Electronics and Cingular are also introducing LG's first two GSM handsets, the G4010 and G4050. Cingular offers the widest variety of innovative and stylish phones that support our newest services, including games, graphics, multi-media messaging and polyphonic ringtones, said Frank Boyer, senior vice president, supply chain, Cingular Wireless. LG Mobile's new GSM handset line provides our customers with even more choices in finding wireless solutions that fit them best. LG's goal is to provide consumers with fashionable phones that give them the functions and services that they want, said Jae Hoon Bae, president of LG Mobile Phones. Introducing a whole new group of feature-rich GSM handsets designed specifically for Cingular Wireless to compliment their new services gives customers the opportunity to experience these impressive services in great style. The G4050 offers LG's signature clamshell design and external Organic Electro-Luminescent (OEL) Caller ID, which saves battery life. The LG G4050 also provides a variety of advanced functions in a compact and stylish handset. The phone sports a 65,000-color screen, 40 polyphonic MIDI sound and 10 caller ID ringtones, voice-activated dialing, text messaging service and an optional attachable camera accessory, plus three hours of talk time and eight days of standby time. An alternative to traditional 'candy-bar' handsets, the LG G4010 gives cost-conscious customers a simple and reliable phone that doesn't sacrifice design. The G4010 delivers a full range of features including 40 polyphonic MIDI sound and 10 caller ID ringtones, text messaging and downloadable pictures, ringtones and games. In addition, the phone has two and a half hours of talk time, six days of standby time and a grayscale LCD, with the entire handset weighing less than three ounces. Consumers can make the LG G4050 and G4010 a reflection of their personalities by customizing their phone's ringtone and downloading their favorite tunes from Cingular's extensive library of ringtones available at www.cingularextras.com |
