GSM / GPRS Module for Wireless Market
11th September 2002

Enfora announced the availability of its 900/1800 MHz GSM/GPRS module. Enfora's Enabler-G is a low cost dual-band embedded solution for both handheld communications and industrial automation. A 1900 MHz version for North America will complete certification testing soon.

According to Loren Anderson, Sr. Director for GPRS Market Development in Europe,
"Our customers are excited that the effort to integrate a GSM/GPRS module has been significantly reduced by the Enabler-G's rugged design, small size, and integrated SIM carrier. The need for additional GCF certification testing has been eliminated reducing the time and cost of placing new products and solutions on the 900 and 1800 MHz GSM/GPRS networks."

"Enfora's extensive experience with CDPD wireless modules, modems and data solutions lends itself well to the burgeoning opportunities for GPRS based applications," Anderson adds. "This GSM/GPRS OEM module represents the continued evolution of Enfora's wireless modules and our continued dedication to providing solutions for our partners."

The Enfora Enabler-G's extremely small footprint, approximately the size of a credit card, allows for easy integration. In addition, the Enabler-G offers a full complement of GSM functionality as well as multi-slot GPRS capability of up to Class 12. Its low power requirement minimizes battery drain and is an ideal low powered solution for portable and mobile products.

16550 UART serial interface allows for connection to any standard COM port. New features will be available soon to provide enhancements for the myriad of products utilizing wireless connectivity. Key features include an API modem control to simplify service and deployment for terminal and server controlled I/O. The Enabler-G will also have embedded TCP/IP, UDP, and PAD functionality simplifying packet application integration. These future enhancements will be available via a firmware upgrade.
