Sofrecom to offer Narus mediation solution including 3G services

Narus and Sofrecom announced a global OEM partnership where Sofrecom - the wholly owned IT solutions & services subsidiary of France Telecom - will offer a fully integrated convergent mediation platform worldwide for both voice and data services as part of its Gaia Global Mediation solution.

Sofrecom considered a functional upgrade of its mediation solution to support 3G services (in particular the G.collect module) and evaluated all major mediation platforms before selecting the offering from Narus. Narus delivers the preferred solution to collect process and apply usage & content data as well as gain full visibility into IP traffic based on applications and protocols for any network.

Sofrecom, via a full integration of Narus technology, now provides operators a fully convergent mediation solution - Gaia Global Mediation - supporting real-time 3G advanced services (e.g. content-based services, prepaid services). This Gaia Global Mediation solution will accurately feed major OSS/BSS applications and also the Gaia Business Intelligence solution (Data warehouse, SLA, Fraud, churn management applications). The flexibility, scalability and cost-effectiveness of this integrated solution allows Sofrecom to offer a complete new convergent mediation solution or a smooth migration path for its existing mediation customers based on their business needs.
Narus was first integrated and installed in Sofrecom's technology center last year and was demonstrated at the Sofrecom User's Forum in April 2002. Sofrecom chose Narus for many reasons including:


- The first carrier-grade, flexible IP mediation platform. In particular, Sofrecom looked for a solution that could respond to the fast changing dynamics of the mobile Internet market.
- Narus' leadership position in the mobile market. Particularly in advanced CDMA, 2.5 and 3G mobile environments.
- A mediation platform that could collect from any network or any network device, while interacting with various OSS/BSS applications without weeks or months of expensive programming.

Narus looked to Sofrecom for many reasons including:


- Sofrecom's leading role with major operators around the world including France Telecom and France Telecom companies.
- Their telco expertise demonstrated in all aspects of telco front and back office systems through Gaia solutions including mediation, billing, CRM, traffic engineering, decision support, etc.
- Sofrecom's proven expertise in both wireline and wireless markets
