Sony was previously partnered with Ericsson, a Swedish telecoms company, and together they produced an excellent range of smartphones and basic mobile devices, from the Sony Ericsson Walkman phones (which had a firm emphasis on music) to the premium Xperia range. Sony split with Ericsson in 2011 and now produces own-brand Google Android smartphones, with just as much success.

Full 3G support makes for fast web access, while the crisp, colourful screens make Sony phones some of the best around for movies, apps and games. Apple and Samsung have serious competition, and we predict big things from this new solo Sony mobile vehicle.
