Apple certainly impressed the mobile community and the mass-market with its Siri voice-control system. Therefore, its no surprise that Google would want to respond with their own version.
The latest rumours suggest they are already working flat-out on a new voice-control system which has been code-named Majel. Majel is the computer who controls the Starship Enterprise in Star-Trek !
Unlike Apple's Siri, Majel is expected to exhibit no personality and be a strictly business computer that integrates deeply into the Android operating system.
Originally it was rumoured that Google would launch a voice-control system for Android before the end of this year. However, it now looks like the first quarter of 2012 is a more realistic date.
New information suggests that Google will launch Majel as early as possible and add more advanced features at a later date, which is a reasonable policy but one which 3G doesnt agree with. Early adopters might feel underwhelmed if the product is only semi-complete and this might damage its reputation forever. But who are we to argue with the mighty Google !
Once we get more news about Majel you'll be the first to know.
